Dear valued member, we must inform you of a very sad announcement that we do not want to make. Slim & Save will be closing at 2pm on the 31st of March 2023. Please read this entire post so we can explain what to expect going forward.
Over the past few years, we have faced many unexpected challenges. The first being the impact of Brexit which was huge to our business; we thought we would still be able to ship into Europe, albeit at an increased cost with additional paperwork, but it turned out that most countries listed milk-based products on the list of prohibited items, and as a result regardless of the cost, we could not ship outside of the UK. This resulted in a large percentage of customers we could no longer supply.
Shortly after Brexit, Covid started to make an impact. At first, we saw a significant spike in orders for many months as customers seemed anxious about availability. However, after the initial spike in orders, the number of customers on plan gradually decreased. Then, once the lockdowns lifted, trade suffered even further. Add to this the war on Ukraine, which has increased the strain on businesses in the UK and Worldwide economies.
Over the last two years, all of our supply chains have increased prices exuberantly, from cardboard boxes, packaging, DPD shipping costs, and manufacturing to electricity and gas. Advertising and selling avenues such as Google and Amazon have increased their prices to the point of losing money on Amazon sales and advertising costs being unfeasible to maintain.
What with all the above, 2022 saw huge financial losses, but we didn’t want to give up. We thought if we could make it to January 2023, that order levels would return to normal, but unfortunately this did not happen.
So far 2023 been the worst period since the business began almost 15 years ago. We needed to decide if we could take risks to re-invest in further manufacture with binding contracts for the rest of the year, or ensure we could honour our commitments to staff, suppliers and existing contracts, along with the many tens of thousands in loyalty points that you, our customers hold.
We decided that we could not take the risk and needed to ensure we met the contractual obligations that we currently have. The only way we can do this is to cease trading. We have been fighting this decision since June 2022, when we hoped to turn things around. We know this is a very transparent post but we think it’s best to be open and honest now that we are clear on what we need to do.

- Referral Scheme – This has been stopped today.
- Points Scheme – You can still spend your points, but you will no longer earn points on your order from the date of this announcement.
- All points need to be redeemed by 2pm 31st March 2023. Any points not redeemed by this time will be lost.
- As per our terms and conditions, there are no cash alternatives to points. You must use them, or you will lose them.

We intend to keep trading until 2pm on the 31st of March 2023 so that customers who have points with us can redeem them. We will provide support for deliveries until the last order has been delivered by Slim & Save.
We have over 500,000 products left in stock, and we will honour every order and ensure safe delivery. We have reduced our plans to 99p per pack so it’s a great opportunity to stock up. Especially if you have points to use.
